We’ve Set a Precedent!
Have you noticed how recenently, whenever a fan-favourite show is cancelled, those fans react in the exact same way as Jericho fans, in hopes of renewing their show? We have set a precedent! Fans of other shows now look up to us as the fans who were able to actually get their show back! But why?
Do you wonder if fans ever ask themseleves why Jericho was renewed? Was it good enough? Definately! But do they know that?
Lately, many new and old shows have been cancelled. Take Veronica Mars. Mars bars flew off the shelves and into the offices of the CW, right? But their works were barely recognized. So, does that mean that the CW was just more stubborn than CBS? Possibly. Or is it simply that Jericho had more devout, ready-to-do-anything to-save our-show fans? That could be it. I believe that fans of other shows look up to the Jericho fans and wonder how in the world we did it. So now, let’s just hope that that encourages others to check out Jericho and see just why it has such an amazing group of fans that they were willing to work tirelessly to bring back the show!
Also, thanks to our efforts, the Jericho fans are being recognized all over the internet. We are getting publicity without evening realizing it. Here’s just a small example; On tv.com, there is a news article about a show called 4400 being cancelled and how fans are sending in seeds to get it renewed. Here is the beginning of the article:
”Jericho-like campaign to save sci-fi show sees fans sending in sunflower seeds to network.
Note to television studios: If you want an almost endless supply of nuts and grains, simply cancel one of your shows that enjoys a cult status.
The near-death experience of CBS’ Jericho provided the networks’ employees with more peanuts than they could handle, as irate fans sent in truckloads of the legume to protest the show’s cancellation. The decision to send nuts was a play on one of the more spirited parts of dialogue from the Jericho season finale.
And in a world where corporations generally look at their customers with contempt, CBS did something rather strange: it listened, and gave the show a second chance at life (season two premieres February 12).”
I absolutely love whoever wrote this. Did you catch those last few words? He is actually promoting Jericho while talking about the fall of another show. Now let’s hope that those 4400 fans will catch a glimpse of that and possibly check into it!
And once again, congratulations, Jericho fans! You’ve set a precedent that, thus far, has not been beat!
